Many times I feel that my camera is an extension of my soul. Emotions may often be a bit hard to convey. The lens gives me the chance to paint the world I see in my own colours. This also allows for connecting to others on a different level. It is always such a privilege!
I cherish all the opportunities my craft is offering me. I have clients turned friends and I am humble for the chance to tell their stories through images. Especially whenever I know they will be shared for generations. I photograph weddings, then the same couples with their babies, so I become part of their families.
Mona and Emon’s story is exactly this, I was fortunate to be called upon to capture their wedding down South back in 2011. We have enjoyed some wonderful moments together since. Now, their life together is even more rich due to the presence of a little, wonderful person: their daughter Layla.
She just turned 2 in August, I simply love this stage and I am honored to capture her growing up.
Enjoy these colourful fall photos we recently took in the ever picturesque High Park. I loved watching Lyla enjoy the world around her…playing with leaves, feeding ducks…ever little new detail made her giggle
I met baby Ada in October 2013 for the first time, she was 2 months old.
I was absolutely delighted when her parents contacted me for a winter shoot with her. It is always such a pleasure to see families grow. Ada is now 18 months old and is a fun loving, expressive and chatty little girl.
In spite of the cold, she loves to be outside and play in the snow. Get her in a sled and she will be the happiest around!
Nupur and Mervin, thank you for allowing me to capture Ada once again and hope to see you again as she grows up!
I love creating unique, playful visual records of family life. I adore capturing children’s innocence. Letting them be, so their beautiful souls can reveal themselves effortlessly. What a joy to be around them!
Elina is a wonderful 2 yrs old little girl. I loved spending time with her, following her around, watching her play. At the end, I felt rejuvenated. Not to mention how amazing it was to get a big hug from her…a gesture that warmed me up inside and reminded me of how fortunate I am for the chance of telling such lovely stories.
Many thanks to Elina’s parents Deepeka and Karna for allowing me to be around their gorgeous, young family.
They are expecting, so I am sure little Elina will have a lot of fun with her new sibling in just a few months.
E&D&K: hope to see you again soon! Best, Manuela.
As a photographer, I have the privilege to capture beautiful life stories. Many times my wedding clients call me to let me know that they are expecting their first child. It is fantastic to see families grow and have the opportunity to create visual journals for them to enjoy for a lifetime.
Mona and Emon had a fabulous destination wedding 3 years ago. After having spent a week with them in Punta Cana, our connection has developed and we have remained in touch. It was with great joy to find out that they had a beautiful baby girl they named Lyla.
I recently met Mona so we could catch up with each other’s lives while sipping cold drinks on a patio. Baby Lyla was a delight to have with us: happy, playful, all smiles! She even attempted to do a little Persian dance for me, under her mommy’s choreographic supervision.
I will let these images speak for themselves. I look forward to seeing Lyla again soon and capture some more memories for her and her lovely family.
Hanna and Matthew had a gorgeous wedding in the summer of 2011. A bit over two years later, baby Lily was born.
It is always an immense pleasure to see my clients’ families grow and a true privilege to be there for them and capture their beautiful life stories. I was thrilled when Lily’s parents contacted me to give me their news and book a photo session.
Meeting baby Lily was a lot of fun. She is a gorgeous red headed girl with a wonderful personality. Her face lights up when she smiles and she is a joy to have in front of the lens.
Hanna & Matthew: congratulations again on your new, lovely family. Enjoy each other for many years to come and hope to see you again soon! Hugs, Manuela.
Traveling is always such fun, but whenever I have the chance to spend quality time with a very dear friend, it all becomes even more special.
Anne and I go a few years back. We met in Toronto and then she moved to England, her home country.
A bit over 4 years ago she had Owen, a lovely little boy I only saw in photographs. Finally meeting him this year was thrilling. We spent a lovely time together in London and then Yorkshire, I got to enjoy his sweet little spirit, we did a lot of fantastic things. One of my favorite activities was the visit to the incredible Kirkstall Abbey (Leeds), a great example of a medieval Cistercian abbey in Britain. Owen loved it there and he ran around the beautiful old walls exploring every corner, playing in the snow and pretending to be the brave defending knight of a plastic, strategically placed kids’ castle.
I still smile to myself looking at the photographs we took, they bring back incredible memories.
I hope to visit again very soon. M
I first met Anastazia and Brent at the end of last year and took some beautiful pregnancy photos on a mild December day.
By the end of January they had a gorgeous little boy, Calvin. He is a great addition to their lovely family and I am sure little brother Martin (who is now a bit over 2 years old) really appreciates his new tiny buddy.
Below are some photos I shot in February when Calvin was only 20 days old. Some of the images truly amaze me as they depict this little person looking straight into my lens with an almost intrigued expression…quite something!
Anastazia and Brent, congratulations one more time on your new addition, may you enjoy each other for a very long time. Hope to see you again in spring! Manuela
For the past couple of years I have tried to give back by donating a family photo session to Dentonia nursery school in a silent auction. This is how I had the great pleasure to meet a lovely family of four: little Raphaelle -14 months old, her 4 years old brother Olivier and their lovely parents, Christine and Andrew. I got to spend a little bit of time with them and I truly hope I captured their personalities in a small collection of candid images. Many thanks for a fun time, enjoy the photos and hope to see you again soon! Yours, Manuela
It feels great whenever my approach to baby and children photography is received really well and parents pass my name around. This is how I got to meet the Lopez family. It was a lot of fun, an energy filled afternoon, watching these beautiful three siblings, their interaction with each other. They all love to swim, so at the end of the photo session we moved to the pool area for some dynamic shots. It was so very nice to see how joyous they all were around water, splashing and giggling non stop. I hope my images depict the huge amount of fun I have witnessed!
