Anita and John are to be married this coming July at the picturesque Hart House in Toronto. When I first met them I was really taken with their vibrant, fun, upbeat energy and warmth. We connected extremely well so I can only be very excited to be a part of their celebrations.
John’s father lives close to the Humber Bay bridge, an area very dear to him and Anita, as they love to walk by the water and enjoy the fantastic cityscape views. We tried to incorporate some of these elements into their engagement photos.
The session was a lot of fun and I truly felt I have spent a great couple of hours with friends.
Look forward to their wedding! M
It is always good to go for things that are a bit different. Jenia and BJ are to marry this coming spring (I still can’t believe I am saying this already, time seems to race with us lately..). They love winter and sports in the snow. With great excitement, Jenia connected with me last month letting me know about some serious amount of snow coming our way. As we could not wait for it to settle, we decided to go out and play while the snow flakes were dancing their way down. Lovely if there is no camera to worry about. Well, that’s when a weather proof cover comes handy, except shooting through is not an easy task. It fogs up constantly which is slightly limiting. And a bit frustrating, when there is so much beauty around that needs to be captured with no obstacles. Yet, the way to do it, unless someone offers to carry a huge umbrella and follow one around, anticipating all the sudden moves.
Well, I have to say, it all paid off in the end, as the photo collection we produced has a beautiful, ethereal, dreamy feel. Wouldn’t you say?
Jenia & BJ: I look forward to seeing you again on your big day. Until then, enjoy your winter! Best, Manuela.
Sakura and Henry are to marry next spring. They could not have picked a nicer contrast for their photo story. Fall colours are always such a spectacular backdrop. The light is also more forgiving and softer than earlier on. We truly lucked out last week as the leaves were so bright, plus we were able to play in the park right before the drizzle began.
The lovely couple’s dogs, Hachi and Zeb, were fantastic to watch and capture on camera. Their favorite activity: jumping in and out of the creek. Good thing they left this at the very end, as their otherwise beautiful, shiny black coats ended up wet and even slightly muddy.
Even though Sakura and Henry knew they would have to go home and give these two another bath, the joy in their eyes while watching their pups have fun showed that they would be really happy to oblige. The dogs are really loved and they know it…and it reflects in how well behaved they are.
Sakura and Henry, enjoy these lovely images until we see you again next year! Best, Manuela
Here is a glimpse into a lovely engagement photo shoot I had the pleasure to experience with a fun couple: Irina and George, to be married this fall.
We lucked out on the weather that evening, the light was perfect: warm and rich, making all colours pop. We walked around the St Lawrence Market area and had a lot of fun stopping here and there, making use of some fabulous backdrops.
I&G, I look forward to seeing you again and spending more time together in your big day! Hugs, Manuela
Amanda and Fady met in Egypt a few years ago. While Fady and his family live in Toronto, Amanda was traveling from London, UK. They are now planning to build their life together in Canada. So exciting!
During one of Amanda’s visits, they wanted to take photographs downtown Toronto, as they both love the urban landscape. We opted for the City Hal area, with its beautiful architecture and great geometry which is always so fun to play with.
Sweet and very laid back (not to mention beautiful and extremely photogenic!), they were a delight to be around. In spite a few rain drops, the weather decided to cooperate that April afternoon and we happily carried on with our little creative project.
Enjoy the images below!
Georgia and Gabe are one of the most relaxed couples I have ever met.
With only a couple of weeks away from their wedding, they are taking it all easy, enjoying the process and having fun with each other. They aim for a nice party with family and friends who, as they told me, have a very similar approach. Can’t wait!
They live around Churchill Park therefore, even though we originally thought of going to the Brickworks, it made more sense to have some photographs taken at the park. Which I also happen to live close to and love. Every time I go there for a creative project I am amazed at the way I can see it with fresh eyes. This gives me much joy and sparks my inspiration.
The session was a lot of fun and they really were up to anything. We shared some good laughs which made it all even more pleasurable.
Georgia and Gabe, so happy to have met you and I look forward to seeing you again soon on your wedding day!
These wonderful people are getting married at the end of the month. We met a few weeks ago to do an engagement shoot in the Harbourfront area. Fun, relaxed, just the way I like it.
I am always very inspired when around such energy. Claudia and Thomas are a beautiful young couple with a lot to say to each other and to my camera. I am sure the photos below make this statement quite obvious. I am grateful to have crossed paths with them and I look forward to the opportunity to spending more time together on their big day.
Hugs to both, M.
Helena and Andrew just got married. Before I post about what was simply a fantastic day, I would like to stick to chronology for now and talk a bit about my experience with them at Toronto’s Hart House. This place is always a pleasure to revisit. And I seem to do so quite often. I am beginning to feel it really is turning into one of my favorite playgrounds, given it is right in my neighbourhood. It has a deep significance to me on many levels, but so it does for this wonderful couple brought together by music. Yes, aside from their successful careers, they both like to play: Helena-cello and Andrew-violin. Their love story began in an orchestra at the U of T. Can’t think of anything more romantic than that. Two people united by their shared passion for beautiful sound. Clearly meant to be. They chose the premises as the gothic grounds are wrapped in so many of these couple’s memories. Of course I was excited to follow. On a very cold March day, Helena showed up in a dreamy green dress, going very well with her elegant, suave nature. Not to say: the green popped in each and every photograph taken. The two were playful, natural, a dream to capture!
Helena and Andrew, hope you are enjoying a lovely honeymoon in Paris and, by the time you return, your wedding photos will be on display! Congratulations and have lots of fun! Hugs, Manuela.
Kelley and Jordan are getting married next January. We all hope for some snow so we can get winter flavored photos. To add some contrast to their photographic memories they decided to do their engagement photos at Jordan’s parents’ farm close to Bancroft. I still can’t believe how that September day had turned out. On the way there I have driven in torrential rain, barely seeing ahead. The forecast was not very encouraging, yet there was a faint chance that there could be a little break in the gloomy weather in the afternoon. The moment I parked the car at the farm, I could feel only a few drops here and there and then not only it all stopped magically, but the sun came out to the point where it was quite hard to bare! Regardless, we had so much fun exploring the 100 something acres with tons to see and enjoy! It felt like a little trip within a trip A few kilometers into my drive back to the city the skies closed again, it got really dark and the rain started coming down in the same manner as early in morning. I smiled and I felt so grateful towards the bearded people up in the sky who have orchestrated everything to perfection
Kelley and Jordan, I look forward to having more fun together in the New Year! Hugs, Manuela.
It is so nice whenever I have the chance to spend some quality time with my couples before their big day. And there is no better way to do it than meeting for a creative engagement or pre wedding photo shoot. We get to chat, it is all very casual and relaxed and basically we build a much needed level of comfort and mutual understanding which makes everything easier later on.
There are many things that I like about Olivia and Louis and one of them is their passion for travel. I can’t believe how many places these two have already visited together. Not to mention I asked them what their chosen honeymoon destination was and I was blown away: Jordan! Wow, how very adventurous of them!
I admire their desire to explore and learn which taps into who I really am and what I love to do.
Dear Olivia and Louis, hope the images below will remind you of such a fun, relaxed evening spent together at the Bluffs.
Look forward to seeing you at your wedding soon! Hugs, Manuela.
